Simple, elegant traditional-style rice cooker, artisan crafted in Japan. Similar to cooking in a donabe, this piece of ceramic cookware is supremely pleasant to use and a peaceful, non-toxic alternative to the modern electric rice cooker.
By providing even heat throughout, the pot's ceramic base allows you to cook , while the outer lid wafts the delicate woodsy scent of hinoki cypress through the kitchen. Features holes on the inner lid which allow just the right amount of steam to escape.
Ultimately all-purpose, the Hagama rice cooker can also be used to prepare other grains or pseudo-grains like barley or quinoa, and can double as a donabe to make soups and stews with the inner lid removed.
Specifically for use on gas stovetops, over an open flame, or in an oven up to 500°F. Cannot be used on electric stovetops. Hand wash only.
Makes 3 go, the standard Japanese rice cup measurement, which equates to approximately 2 1/4 US cups. Shou-sugi-ban wooden trivet and hinoki rice spatula are included.
